General Surgery

Paediatric surgeons are attracted to the Children’s Hospital from leading London NHS hospitals, including Great Ormond Street, Kings College, The Royal Brompton and Chelsea & Westminster.

After surgery, and initial transfer to the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU), your child will be moved to the dedicated paediatric ward, where they are cared for by paediatric nurses, supported by a team of physiotherapists, dieticians, pharmacists, psychologists, play specialists and if needed, interpreters.

The ward has 15 individual patient rooms with accommodation which allows you (parents/carers) to stay with your child overnight. Our aim is to create an environment where children and their families feel happy and relaxed, and where you can be confident that your child is receiving the very best medical care and attention.

General surgical procedures include:

  • Abdominal surgery
  • Biopsies
  • Gallbladder removal
  • Genital surgery
    • Circumcision
