Infection Control

Hygiene at the hospital

Preventing the spread of infections is a top priority at the Children’s Hospital. You can help us to keep all our patients safe by:

  • Letting nursing staff know about any recent illnesses, including diarrhoea, vomiting or infections, that have affected you or your child
  • Using the hand gel before you come onto the ward and when you leave, and making sure your visitors do the same
  • Washing your hands – and your child’s ─ thoroughly before meals and after using the toilet
  • Not touching wounds, dressings, catheters, or drains
  • Asking your child’s nurse to change any loose, soiled or wet dressings
